The College Continues Provincial Outreach & Conference Presence

John Murray, President & CEO, and Russ Harrington, COO, recently met with staff from Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration – Immigration & Population Growth Branch – to continue discussions on both organizations’ work to protect the public from immigration fraud.


Mr. Murray and Mr. Harrington met with Omar Tag El-Din Abdellatif, Director of Immigration Programs, and Jeremy Smith, Acting Senior Executive Director, in Halifax in September.

Jason Cannon, the Branch’s Director, Investigations and Compliance, and Stef Lach, the College’s Manager, Issues Management and Stakeholder and Government Relations, were also in attendance.

 

Also in September, College staff attended the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR) Annual Educational Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, where Mr. Harrington joined presenters from other regulatory bodies in a panel discussion titled “Supporting Regulation of a Global Workforce."

College staff attended the Canadian Network of Agencies and Regulation (CNAR) 2024 Conference in Ottawa, Ontario October 7-9 which brought together key Canadian regulatory bodies from across the country. Mr. Harrington spoke at a session on AI in Professional Regulation titled “A Brave New World: Artificial Intelligence in Professional Regulation”. Cathy Pappas, Director, Registration, presented a CNAR Master Class Workshop on Trauma-Informed Professional Regulation.
