Fraud Prevention Month: 2024 Marketing Campaign Recap

As a member of the Fraud Prevention Forum, the College participates in Fraud Prevention Month to help consumers recognize, reject, and report fraud. This year, the College focused on raising awareness about the Public Register, an essential tool for protecting the public from immigration fraud. The Public Register lists all licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs), whether in Canada or abroad.

The marketing campaign had a straightforward message for the public: If you choose to work with an immigration consultant for Canadian immigration matters, check our Public Register to verify that they are licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.

The campaign relied on a digital marketing approach to disseminate the message domestically, as well as internationally in Canada’s top source countries namely, Nigeria, China, Philippines, and India. The campaign began in March for domestic audiences and began mid-March for international audiences (ending mid-April).

The campaign was a phenomenal success! It led to an overall increase in followers across all College social media platforms from approximately 163.7K on March 1 to 550.6K on April 19, representing a 236% increase. The campaign also led to a 279% increase in total web traffic, from 92K to 349K.

Though the campaign has come to an end, we encourage you to continue following our social media accounts and to share our resources with your networks:
