• Jaswinder Kaur Bajwa, of Canworldvisa Immigration Services., in Laval, Quebec, had their licence suspended following findings of professional misconduct by the Discipline Committee. The committee found the RCIC’s actions before the Refugee Appeal Division concerning, in that the RCIC often requested extensions; appeals were not perfected which led to dismissals; the RCIC submitted fraudulent documents produced by a former employee and the RCIC failed to supervise the employee to ensure documents submitted were not fraudulent. The RCIC voluntarily admitted to violating the 2019 Code of Professional Ethics and 2022 Code of Professional Conduct by entering an Agreed Statement of Facts and Joint Submission on Penalty with the College. The RCIC was fined $7,500 and was ordered to pay costs to the College in the amount of $4,500.
• Mahfuzur Rahman, of Roadway to Canada Immigration Services, in Toronto, Ontario, appealed a Registrar’s decision to revoke their licence for failure to pay fees and charges required of them to the Registrar Appeal Committee. The committee allowed the appeal, and the revocation was overturned. The committee noted an error in the Registrar’s decision to suspend the licensee following 88 days, when Section 20.6 of the By-laws makes it clear in its language that what is required is a continuous 90-day period before a suspension is commenced. The effective date for the licensee to be reinstated is the date of the Registrar Appeal Committee decision of October 3, 2024; however, the licensee will remain suspended until they have satisfied all fees and charges owing to the College up to March 19, 2024 (the date of the revocation). Each party shall bear its own costs for this appeal.
