How will this role support our team?

The incumbent provides technical support and troubleshooting to staff across the College for internally developed applications (e.g., College Portal, website). The incumbent supports application upgrades, resolves issues and improves system functionality.


Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

  • Provide on-going technical support, troubleshooting and debugging of the College Portal, Public Register, the College website, operational reporting, data management and other internal, non-infrastructure applications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to perform analysis on incoming application issues to determine trends and advise on possible fixes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external developers to maintain and strategically support the College’s web-based applications, including making limited programming changes in production.
  • Coordinate with the information technology (IT) team members to triage tickets, categorize and document system issues escalate break-fixes to the Development team and document resolutions to the IT wiki.
  • Research, investigate and analyze root causes of system issues and potential solutions by reading coding and debugging Structured Query Language (SQL)/ Intelligent Query Architect (IQA) queries and other query languages as needed.
  • Review and advise internal stakeholders on data issues and potential data clean-up solutions.
  • Create business intelligence and operational reports from multiple IT systems as required by various College departments.

This role will support our team by providing:

  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and handle multiple support requests simultaneously as well as resolution of IT issues.
  • Organization and attention to detail to organize and triage support tickets related to the College Portal, Public Register, etc.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to communicate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and troubleshoot to resolve technical issues.
  • Knowledge of software development practices, programming languages (Python, PHP, C, C#), SQL and relational databases, data report development, help desk ticketing systems, business intelligence tools (PowerBI, and Tableau) and systems analysis.

Required Education and Experience

  • College Diploma in a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience with troubleshooting and resolving software issues to stakeholders
  • Knowledge of software troubleshooting
