How will this role support our team?

The incumbent is responsible for leading and providing strategic communications advice and guidance to a specific internal business partner in support of the partner and the College’s strategic plan.


Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

  • Collaborate with the internal business partner to lead, develop, execute, and evaluate communications plans using planning documents, project management tools and analytics.
  • Manage the internal business partner’s expectations and lead them through strategic advice and guidance, to the desired outcome that is in alignment with the department and College’s strategic plan.
  • Advise and work with members of the Communications and Stakeholder Relations department to enable preparation and execution of plans - all in alignment with the department’s strategic plan - to support the internal business partner.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare project plans, coordinate working sessions, resources, budgets and timelines.
  • Develop and implement communications products consistent with the College’s branding, voice and quality standards, to strategically position and convey the internal business partner’s messaging, services and programs.
  • Establish and analyze metrics using a variety of communications analytical tools (e.g., creative research, usage and attitude studies; Hootsuite Analytics, Meta Business Suite for Facebook, Twitter Analytics, etc.) to measure the effectiveness of the communications product(s) for the internal business partner.
  • Identify emerging issues, trends and shifts in public/stakeholder opinion and discuss with the manager and internal business partner to determine if changes in the communications plan are required.

This role will support our team by providing

  • Strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and evaluate communications plans and products which support the College’s communications objectives
  • Knowledge of communications practices, messaging techniques and delivery mechanisms to identify and create quality communications plans and products
  • Project management skills to manage communications projects and ensure timely completion of all deliverables. Interpersonal, presentation, stakeholder relationship and management skills to engage others and build credibility
  • Influencing and persuasion skills to redirect the internal business partner to the desired end goal that is in alignment with the Department and College’s strategic direction.
  • Time management and prioritization skills to manage conflicting demands and commitments
  • Political acuity to understand and manage sensitive issues at all levels of stakeholders and management.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple projects and demands

Required Education and Experience

  • University Degree (Bachelor) in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing Communications, or related experience
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications or marketing communications
