The College has launched a Research Fellowship to foster academic and professional development in the industry.
The inaugural Research Fellowship is supported by Mitacs’ first-ever research grant. Mitacs is a nonprofit research organization that partners with Canadian academia, private industries and the government.
The fellowship’s first study will be in collaboration with the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration (CERC Migration) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and the Professional Standards, Research, Education and Policy (PREP) department at the College.
The study will aim to:
- Investigate the impact of unethical recruitment practices affecting international students in public colleges across Ontario and British Columbia.
- Evaluate strategies these colleges use to engage licensed immigration consultants.
- Align curricula with labour market needs and develop career support systems.
Dr. Marshia Akbar (CERC Migration, TMU) and Dr. Beata Pawlowska (PREP, the College) are the principal investigators, jointly supervising the research.
More information on the fellowship will be shared in the coming weeks on the College website.
